It's almost time for some new tires for my wifes car and was looking for some info. I have done a good bit of research and am looking at either the continental extreme DWS or the Hancook V 12. The tires are going on a 2010 Challenger RT. Anybody have any experience with either tire?

I've seen the Continental Extreme contact on a few BMW's recently. They seem to wear OK. They don't get noisy when worn like many other tires (Bridgestone etc.) Continental is definitely the more well known tire manufacturer and I'd say it will probably be higher quality. But you'll probably pay more for them too.

Continental will get you best quality but at a price, cooper has a great line of Tires, gs3 probably would be best for the wallet while still getting 50k outta them

What size wheels? 17, 18 or 20?

Continentals came OEM on our Charger and we barely got 20k out of them.

On my 08 A4, the Hankook V12's I had were quiet at first, then got really loud. They had nice grip, but didn't last long. The next set were Hankook V4's. I didn't notice any real change in feel/grip and they've lasted considerably longer.

Another tire guys wont stop talking about on Audi forums are the Michelin Super Sport, but I have no personal experience with them.

Michelin MXV4's or Harmony's will last forever, but won't be the most sticky option. The MXV4 is a 60k tire and the Harmony is 80k. Are you looking for grip or longevity? The Hankook tires you mentioned don't have a treadlife warranty but the Continentals have one for 50k. Also the continental is an all season tire, and will do better in adverse weather than the Hankooks. The Hankook will grip better but not have the treadlife.

We have Goodyear Eagle RSA 255/45/20 on the wife's Charger, and Hankook Ventus 275/45/20 on my Silverado, we've gotten good treadlife and quiet rides out of both. If I can get 18 months or 30k out of these types of tires I consider it a win. By 24-26k they are getting down close to the wear bars, and I'll need a new set at least on the Charger by the winter, probably on the Silverado too but I can drive the Jeep in bad weather.

I have never bought the same set of tires twice. Until just recently. I am on my 2nd set of Continental DWSs on the Infiniti. It's a no brainer Brad. Get the Contis.

I have the Conti Extreme Contacts DWSs on my Mazda right now. Performance is pretty good. Not noisy. Order from TireRack and they are more affordable, also check if you change teh size slightly that can make a big difference in price.

One note - these tires are both directional AND asymetrical. So you'd better have a perfect alignment, you can only rotate front/back, and nothin gelse - not even unmount and flip them over liek directional symetric tires.
I had a slight toe in on the front and within <5k that one was destroyed - the price for that soft grippy rubber...

Cooper hands down. They've done alot to keep operations stateside and they've got a great warranty program!

The next set of tires for my truck will be Cooper's, maybe for the wife's car too.

Cooper is by far the best selling tire at my shop new, they also make a off name kenda and warranty them for 40k at a nice savings.

They are 20's. Stock tire is a Goodyear rsa 245/45/20. I got around 24000 miles on them and can probably get a few more. I will do a little more research on the coopers.

Oh I forgot. The other tire I am looking at is the vredestein ultrac sessanta. They get awesome reviews and are very reasonable. I am more intersted in performance vs tire wear.

I saw that article too. That's what got me leaning towards the V12 in the begining.

For the price it looks like you can't beat them. I've ran the Kumho's on my truck and liked them too, they were Ecsta's like in that article but a different tread pattern.

STX's, like these.
