I've been trying to figure out which carb I want to run on my amc 360 what do you all run? what do you suggest?

I was looking at the holley truck avenger. does anybody use them? if so what are the pros and cons?

Its in a jeep cj 5 if that matters gonna be a trail/rock rig- street sometimes as well but not much

If you want to be really happy with how it runs on and off road... Run the Motorcraft 2bbl or a QuadraJet 4bbl.

If you want to be all :huggy: gangster and blow unburnt fuel and black smoke everywhere and run your battery down trying to restart it on a hill... run a Holley. Word.

guess i'll have to do some research.

Reman Quads are available through Summit and Jegs with warranty. You can use a factory AMC 4bbl intake with a quad adapter or the Edelbrock performer intake. (Pricey @ $250 - 300) The Motorcraft 2bbls are all over the place and dont require the intake change. Get on the Jeep only forums and you can find one. There are a few models out there, do some research and make sure you get the desired model. I have forgot which one it is. (Maybe 2300)? With either carb you want to run a Holley regulator and gauge. Turn it down to 5-6 PSI. You will be ready to rock.:wheel:

my vote's for a tbi setup-a little more involved to start, but more reliable and will almost run upside down. the international guys have done alot of work on these(see also howell injection)

The motor already has an edelbrock aluminum intake on it and i actually have a spare sitting on the bench but motor never came with a carb so I'm not sure what the previous owner was running on his jeep. What all is involved with switchin over to tbi and whats a rough estimate at the cost?

the complete howell kit is $1300 for non-emissions v8, however with some research and junkyarding skills, you can roll-your-own for a whole lot less. to start you will need:
tbi unit from 4.3, 305 or 350
adapter plate for tbi to manifold(can buy separate from howell)
wiring harness from donor vehicle(some wires not used, can be trimmed out)
MAP sensor
O2 sensor & weld-in bung to exhaust
electric fuel pump & relay(can be in-tank or inline)11-15 psi, will need steel line for pressure
ecm module from 87-91 gm tbi vehicle(howell will sell memcal chip for application)
coolant temp sensor
optional is knock sensor and an electronic spark control distributor
if you can find a complete donor vehicle it gets a whole lot easier and cheaper
