first of all its a 87 dodge 4x4 with a 318 V8. Holley 2280 carb. I went to rebuild it today and got it back on and the bowl vent tube started dumping fuel. When I took it off, it didn't even have a hose hooked up to it. And I can't find one that might go to it either. But what did I do wrong for it to spew fuel like that? And what should that bowl vent tube be hooked up to? Any clues? I know we have some mechanics on here that may know what I did. If not I guess I'm screwed cause a new carb is $268.

Sounds like the float is stuck open and letting fuel free flow.
You either missed something on the needle (?) valve going to the float bowl or you have the float pinned down ...er sumpthin'.

I think Matt is heading you in the right direction!

Forget to reinstall the needle or worse, the seat?

Did you set the float level to spec? (even the REALLY cheap kits include those instructions as well as the paper gauge to set it with...)

It kinda looked like the float was stuck open, there was a LOT of fuel down in the lower bowl. I don't think there is a needle....maybe. And my kit from Advance did not come with a paper gauge. it said it did, but it did not. The float is adjusted with a cheap flap that runs to the needle in the inlet screw.

So maybe I need to redo the float in the morning and see if that fixes the problem.
