Cast metal tapping

I have an external hydraulic pump on my tractor something like this http://www.hydraulic.net/pumps_catalogs/pump_catalog_1.html?pump=Hydraulic-Pumps-Gear-Pumps and the pump itself is good but the bolt holes where the pressure side bolts up are wallowed out. Years ago, I drilled and tapped one and the rest were okay. Now the one I tapped and another is stripped. The housing is some kind of cast metal, maybe aluminum. The threads are course. I have about 3/16" of material left outside of the bolt holes (to tap into) on the one that has already been drilled and tapped and I'll have to go up a size of I do it again.
Will there be enough material left for it to hold properly?
How much torque should be used when screwing into this cast material/aluminum?
Thanks,
RQ

try a (spellin) helacoil remember the load looks like it's trying to shear the bolt not pull a bolt is only as strong as thick Remember the chemicals out there JB weld???? Lock tight?? can't hurt good luck

x2 on the Helicoil. Plus some aluminum safe Lock Tite. As for torque  Maybe find some application specs.
