What is the deal with cat people???

In my line of work and as with any other residential service job, we have these people we call "cat ladies".

9.9 out of 10 it's a single woman with a house full of cats and the smell is so bad it's breath taking. And these people live there like its nothing!

One house one time was very clean, nice and in a great neighborhood. But no kidding, lady had 15 liter boxes in the house for 7 cats. The smell was awful. She called me out for and air duct cleaning complaining of a smell. Really??? Her ducts were clean as could be and she didn't understand why she had a smell???

What gives? Anyone here guilty of cat hoarding and living in a smelly litter box? I can't understand it.

I'm at a cat lady's house right now, smell is so bad my guys are wearing respirators with char coal filters.

Rant over...

I have a barn cat. She is good at her job. But she lives in the barn / outdoors. That is all I can do for cats. Not in the house at all.

I know that not everyone that has cats are considered "Cat People" but from my experience...its some sort of sickness of the mind or something. My father in laws' mom is like that...she has cats that come in from the woods and she eventually lets them in the house to live....we do not eat there and the smell inside the house is almost breath taking. I can't be in there for more than 30 min. without my eyes watering and coughing up a storm.

When we were looking for a house, one of the houses we went to look at was really bad. We walked in and the realtor shut the door and said "I will not allow you to buy this house" It smelled SO BAD...and the bad part is...that smell doesn't seem to go away.

I think cats are wierd anyways...just my opinion.

In some cases, after being there a little bit you get used to the smell. But I don't see how every time the person leaves for work or what have you, they come back home and don't smell it?

Ugh I had this argument with my wife last night. We've been married for two years and together for 3. She's had three cats for around 8 years.

They aren't bad cats but I'm just not a cat person. One of the little jerks craps outside the litter box. We have 3 boxes and clean them daily.

Yesterday I discovered the jerk has been pissing on the floor behind the boxes and pissing under the washing machine. I have had enough of this. My wife can't seem to smell the cat pee but I sure can. Asking her to get rid of the cat is about as easy as giving away a child. It isn't going to happen.

Hopefully a cat person can chime in on what's so special about cats. They lay around all day, don't give a shit about you unless the food is empty, get hair all over the place, and stink up the place.

As far as my house goes. We vacuum daily and use air freshener in the outlets. I have made a cat door to the litter box room. So the smell is kept to that room. Just seems like too much work for animals that don't do much.

Sorry for the rant

Years ago I had a neighbor who was batshit crazy and a cat horder. She set food outside for and let feral cat's in her home, she also tossed bags of garbage in her backyard and the yard was strewn w trash pulled from the bags by cats, possums, coons even a dog or 3 .One day she asked me if I could fix the floor in her house and trying to be a good neighbor I went to look at the problem. Her doublewide was a house of unimaginable filth and stench, garbage bags were piled up in the kitchen and other rooms and ripped open by the many cats running the whole house. I saw no litterboxes but there were several holes in the floor from cats pissing on and rotting the carpet/floor some were 3' across the cats came and went at will through the holes. I told her I could not fix her floors and she needed to call an expert. I tried to stay away and ignore her until she finally moved somewhere, but kept returning to feed the dam nasty, dirty wild cats. I was friends w the towns animal control guy and he set 5 traps in our backyard and removed about 20 cats in a week. Then he left a few for me to use when needed.

Because just so you know, one is real and one is not...

When we bought our previous house it has new carpet installed and didn't smell, but after a year or so it started to have a strange smell. We could never figure it out and just assumed it was something with the house. Put air fresheners up and that was it. Well, after about 6 years we decided to tear up the carpet and put laminate floor down. Well, found the source of the smell, the subflooring in the one room was SOAKED in cat piss. Obviously, the previous owners replaced the carpet because of this and didn't do anything to fix the problem. I coated the floor in like three coats of oil based Kilz and then laid the floor and it never smelled again.

So yeah, there is a way to get rid of the smell, but it is annoying having to do it.

I don't own any pets, and never will because I don't like the dirt and mess they create in a house. I like my house to be extremely clean. I have become a bit OCD about it as I have gotten older.

That has to be a joke.

yeah but like most "cat ladies" none of them have a chance of getting pregnant.

Toxoplasmosis is believed to affect the behavior of the human host, like a cordyceps-infected ant or an STD that infects and sterilizes crickets, but ramps up their libidos to encourage virus transmission. Toxoplasmosis is already known to change the behavior of infected rats, so it's not a theory without precedent.

The more frightening (and fascinating) question, really, is to what degree are our preferences, moods, and compulsions driven by the bacteria and virii infecting our bodies?

I love that video. Wonder how many guys said, well at least she is hot and messaged her anyway.

Back before I met my wife, I was on Match.com a lot. It surprised me how many women would post maybe 5 pictures in their profile. Three of them would be of their cat. :wtf:

i use to do residential hvac installation and i remember a guy in randleman had us install new units in the house he lived in and the one across the street he owned. But to our suprise the one across the street was full of about 20 cats living there by their self. Had kid swimming pool for a litter box in the living room. The house was old and had no duct work or anything so guy spent well over 6k-7k (dont remember exact price) to have a complete system installed. Craziest thing i ever seen. But to his credit the house was extremely clean and did not smell very bad.

infecting or sustaining....

Wow that video.

If that's even real, I'm bettin $100 she is still single and now has 15+ cats.

Before her emotional break down I was thinking she was pretty hot. But she's clearly a cat lady.

Visited a house today. Beautiful old growth oak floors throughout the first floor... That somebody's f-ing cat had pissed on and ruined. You can sand and refinish all you want, but that doesn't come out. Best you can do is cover it up with a dark stain.

All true, but even after staining, you will still see the marks. BTW, cat piss on hardwood floors usually pays for one trip a year for my family!

True, it's still "muddy", even under the best of circumstances.
