im hauling off my scap metal and wondered were to bring the couple converters i have.Ive never sold used converters before, but was told they were worth 90-100 a piece???Is this correct?

yeah I would be careful to bring those to a reputable place and have all your information from the donor vehicle in hand.

Because of theft all scrap places now have to show where the cats come from and from which vehicle including VIN

at least that is what I've been told by a couple of yards.

I hope not, I have a few stashed in my shed waiting on the price to go back up, vehicles are loong gone...

wow, well i guess im not going to get rid of them, both are out of buggy builds ive done in the past, one toyota donor truck and a honda accord that i used for a build..i dont have any (vin or other)info on them.

I pulled 15 of em out of my father in laws garage about a year ago. Threw em in my truck and headed over to the scrap yard.

they told me if I didnt have VINS to get the bleep out.

I would try it anyway, all they can do is tell you no.Converter prices had went way down so don't be surprised if they bring less than you thought.I know NC has some funky rules on things but around here we don't have to have any vehicle info.

a guy at work said he would give me 75 for the pair...should i take the money and run..LOL?
What are they off of?...if it's domestic stuff, then yes..take the money and run. If they are large ones off an import, they may be worth a bit more. If they are european exotics (mercedes, bmw, etc...) then they probably are worth a bit more.

doh! wish i had seen this sooner. Im a honda tech and I sold my last hard flange honda cat for 160. I cant find my most recent price guide sheet to tell you about the yota.

I scrap cars when I can find them. I sell to Matt. I have gotten 35-120 out of converters.
For intance, if it's a ford with two converters, they were $40 each, I had one from a Pontiac that brought $120
Matt knows his stuff, he takes one look at it and says what it came from and what it's worth.
Beware though, if it's an after market converter that has been put on by a muffler shop, then good chance it's nearly worthless, as in $5

I want to find a BMW to scrap LOL Some of those converters are worth over $300!
