cavalier check engine

i have a 2001 Chevy cavalier that my fiancee drives and the check engine light came on,it still runs and drives good.
when i plug in a scanner to the service plug under the dash to pull the codes i get nothing.Figuring it might be the scanner i go down to Advance auto and when they plug their scanner up..still nothing,scanner wont even turn on..anyone have any insight?

check all your fuses. just had the same problem on an early 00 model chevy 3500 van.

i pulled all the ones for the pcm and found nothing,i will pull them all..hopefully i can find something

Check your horn fuse & cigerette lighter. Had the same issue on the wifes car the obd2 port ran throught the horn fuse & it was pulled due to a bad horn pad.

Its link to your cig lighter, make sure you dont have anything pluged into it.. If the SES is still on You can bring it down here i check it out

the obd2 connector is fused with the cigarette lighter. if no power to obd connector the lighter probably isn't working either.

BINGO,the lighter fuse is toast,ill put a new one in and check the codes tonight
