Don't know if this topic has ever come up. Is there or has there been a designated channel for 4Wheelers. When we were in California they always used channel 23. The early 23 channel CB radios were not digital and unlit. So it was easy to find the correct channel even in the dark... turn the dial all the way to the right.
I think the same concept would be good here. Groups can always use another channel for their individual runs, but a general channel could be of benefit for passing on information or emergencies.
Yes? No?
Open topic for discussion.

We usually run channel 33 in my groups, but I've always been able to contact other groups on channel 4. Seems like someone is always on 4.

A designated channel was probably a good idea when CB's weren't so popular, now, every yahoo with a 4x4 has one, and half of those have a 16 jigawatt liner amp so they can talk to Tulsa, and splatter 6 freq's each way in the process. Beep.

starting a group on a certain channel has always been an excersize in patience, some one doesn't have their junk tuned right, so now they either can't transmit or recieve on picked channel. Beep.

then you'll also find that there are usually several groups (clubs or what ever) and those usually have a block of channels for what ever splinter groups form from there. Beep.

THe best idea is having your junk tuned PROPERLY, not over powering the next six counties, and repsecting others on the radio. Beep.

Hell, Even FRS radios are getting crazy to use, so many folks have them now, it's tough to find a channel most weekends. Beep beep.

Looks like we about to go a huntn' BEAR! BEEP.

CW McCall used to be the mayor of my hometown. My older brother graduated from high school with his grandson and he spoke at their graduation. Real name is Bill Fries. (Pronounced Freeze) Real nice guy too!
