Hey guys, I think I've probably made the mistake of reading up too much online about doing a CB Radio installation myself. Does anyone know a reputable place to get a full CB Radio/Antenna install done? Preferably in the Triangle area but I will travel to someone with a good reputation. I know I COULD do it but frankly I'd rather pay to have it done right or at least have someone else to blame if it doesn't work :)
Thanks in advance!

There is a place around Middlesex but I cannot remember the name for the life of me.

Just go GMRS and don't look back.

In all seriousness, who are you talking to? Group of buddies riding around together off road? On the farm? Hunting? Or you looking to talk to some truckers for traffic updates or something?

If you ever get down around Wallace or burgaw/ near topsail island, Tcs radio and repair will hook you up with everything you need

Nobody really runs cb anymore two way or vhf is the way to go from the bear woods to the trail head

With a CB you can follow the rules all the way and it can still not work worth a crap. Also if your buddie's stuff isnt set up correctly you cant talk to them either. EVERYTHING matters with a CB installation. Most of the off road guys, farmers, etc., have all gone to GMRS, specifically Midland Micromobile. Get an MXT 275 with an upgraded antenna, toss it in a pile, plug it in and talk all over the place.

I have a very expensive great quality CB with a nice antenna and coax and I can’t GIVE it away. It also NEVER worked as good as it should have.

Switched to GMRS a year ago and never looked back. There is no tuning, no adjustments or anything. Simply plug it in, plug the antenna in, pick your channel and you’re done. Incredible range and clarity and the handhelds work amazing too.

Bring it up to Wentworth and I can put it in. I have the meters and the knowledge.

I also agree with getting a GMRS radio. Between the two, GMRS has better range and clearer signals.

I run CB, GMRS and ham. There isn't no one that I can't communicate with. Which was handy last weekend as I led a group that some had GMRS and others only had CB. Used 2M simplex with my tail gunner when we wanted to discuss next actions before presenting them to the group.

Thanks. I’m googling the heck out of it and can’t come up with anything In that area. If you think of it let me know.
Place is called Night Runners and is around Franklinton. I asked a buddy if he remembered it.

If you are dead set on CB find a large truck stop most of the big ones will have a radio shop

I seem to remember that place went downhill when the son took over. Then I follow your post and see the old man passed away last month.
And it says they don't do installations. 10 years ago I'd have recommended that place in a heart beat.

There is also a guy in an old RV at the truck stop in Kenly NC but I don’t know if he does installs. An ebay SWR meter and decent coax and mounting (even magnet mount will give decent short range performance if on a decently large steel surface) will get you going.

I’m a ham operator (general license) and 2m and 440mhz are both far superior.

CTB requires a CB and honestly I don’t want one in my Jeep so I haven’t joined.

I’m in north Durham, I can do it. But, I’ll say for the eleventeenth time-just go GMRS. And I’ll still help you, with mounts etc if need be.
