i have seen a couple of trucks with 2 cb antennas. whats the deal with that?? do they really have 2 cb radios or is it a way of getting more reception?

After using a cb for many years and talking with good cb shops. Two antenna's will do you the best in the direction forward and backward of your truck in sending and receiving. The ideal place is the center of the truck with 18 feet of coax. cable. The signal wave of the c.b. is 36 feet and with 18 feet of coax you have half a wave so you cna p/u better and send better. The only thing is with all the wireless stuff now cb is getting harder and harder to reach out and touch someone without some booster help.

ok, thanks for explaining, i have being wondering about it for a while

hey million do you know a good place to buy a cb at? because i really dont want to by mine at pilot.
Any truck stop will have a good selection of CB's. Stay away from Realistic brands from Radio Shack. Junk. I'm partial to Midlands and Cobra 25's & 29's. The Midland 1001Z is a good inexpensive radio. Can be bought at Big Lots for about $40.00.

There is a CB shop in Trinity right off hwy 85. I went in today and the guy has been working on them for 41 years and he had a good selection of CB's and an even better selection of antennas and accessories.

If you are talking about the little place on the corner of Hwy 62 and Hopewell Church Rd he knows his s##t. And that is important when you want to spend your money smart. They can help get your swr set up. That will make a world of difference on distance, quality, and life of your radio.

i have an old cobra 25 had a 29 but dont know what happened to it. Were is this trinty place. I want to get a radio with upper and lower band. I might even get ham lic. Never know what the gov might do.

And i cant remeber what has to be done but on some 10 meter radio's they have to do something for it to work on cb bands.

Let me try and help, commercial trailers can be as high as 13 feet 6 inches tall and 8ft 6inches wide. The CB signal will not pass through it, we had a hard time getting a signal to and from truck to truck. We run two antennas to overcome the problem, and they must be over 8 feet apart to do this or they interfere with each other. Two antennas on a pickup won't work and is not needed. If you ever get a chance to see the top of a ambulance check out what they do to the roof to gain superior communication. Signal reflection is the key to communication. Ground planes is also very important also.

If you are heading South on new 85 out of Greensboro (torwards Thomasville) you take the Hopewell Church Rd exit (right after the hwy 311 exit). Turn right on Hopewell Church Rd and turn right at the first light. The shop is about 1/4 mile on the right. Small white building.
