i'm wanting to know if anyone has Boost Mobile. i'm looking to change from Cricket. i'd like to get one that doesnt have a contract. i'm just wanting everyones opinion on services
Thanks AJ

I had a killer deal with suncom on 1 of their no contract phones. $59 unlimited. but when I switched jobs I didnt have any service in that area.

Boost is part of Nextel

"Nextel, how business gets dropped".

ive got mixed emotions about my nextel. Service comes and goes, really only have it for the walkie talkie feature and the fact that my girlfriend has one so its free to talk to her via walkie talkie method. However, you will be in the middle of talking and get interupted b/c you lost service. My g/fs house is also a death-trap for nextel. You can literally be standing in one spot of the house and have all bars, take one step to the left/right or whatever, and have no signal what-so-ever. Maybe when my contract runs up I will switch to verizon, isnt that the company that just got the walkie talkie feature?

Yes Verison has the push to talk but you can only talk to people on the verison net work with that feature. both verison and alltel have good prepaid plans with no contracts.

ive got nextel and my service really isnt any worse then the others in my area. but they have hybrid phones which have nextel 2 way and sprint phone service, had it and hated it. went back to a regular nextel phone and its much better. but all depends on your area. i had alltel and i didnt like it as much as my nextel to i switched back plus nextel/boost is only really good if you have lots of people to talk to on the 2 way.

Yeah mines a hybrid as well, really no difference in coverage. Only thing now is, if I dont have direct connect (walkie talkie) then I have the ability to make a phone call, if I loose the ability to make a phone call then I usually have direct connect. Most of the people I talk with frequently used to have nextels now they all have different phones/companies. They also hardly ever talk on the phone, they prefer to send text messages

i used to have the go-phone through AT&T.. it was just as expensive each month but i was really pleased with it because i got service just about everywhere..i just bought the refurbished phones to which is a lot cheaper than buying new phones.

If you're willing to buy the phone outright from them or anywhere else (e.g., eBay, a buddy, some bum on the street...) just about any network will allow a month-month "contract", e.g. no commitment, you pay for each month you use and you can split any time. It just costs a little more for the same thing, but generally still cheaper than pre-paid plans by the minute.

Nextel/sprint is fine if you are allway near a major city. had it for work and I had to stay home whenI was on call. any where I would go for wheeling or camping it would not work. So when they offer Verizon I switched. it works much better.

The Verizon Wireless Push To Talk is Rev A speed meaning it does not use Nextel's grandfathered network that not only is being shut down by the government in certain areas due to interference with 911 response units. (i.e. police ambulances), but they're voice network is sub-par. Sprint loses nearly a million customer's per quarter in churn (net adds of service minus cancelations of service) Verizon Wireless not only covers 82% of the nation with 3G service. It has the fewest drops of any network as per JD Power 5 years running.

Oh and Verizon does offer pre-paid as well. You can go to a local Walmart/Best Buy and pick up a device and add some minutes on the cheap.
