Those of you that use cellular trail cameras, learn me some things. How do I get a cell plan? How much does it cost? Also, what cellular trail cams do you recommend?

I run spartan go live m cams, with their data plan. I think I pay around 180 every 6 months for the data plan for my 3 cameras. The only other trail cams I have any experience with are some $50 ones off amazon that lasted about a year each, so not much to compare them to personally.

I'm running 9 spypoints. They're not great, but not terrible. Buy the plan through spypoint on the website. They have varying cell plans from free to 15/month. Can get it cheaper if you buy for a year.

I run the Spycam and Muddy cameras.. Each camera cost me $5-8 each/month for around 1200 photos and they photos are pretty good.. Can also pay $.10 per image that I wish to make HD, but I have not bothered with that.. I am looking into the Cuddieback Cuddie-Link system though.. You buy one cellular transponder and can link up to 24 cameras to the cellular base. Its higher cost up front, but only $10/month for 2-24 cameras.

I highly recommend the cameras that support both Verizon and at&t. The ones I have switch between the two services depending on which signal is stronger.

I use Spypoint cameras. If you don't want to pay a monthly premium, you get 100 pics a month per camera free. I pay $99 for a yearly subscription which gets me 250 pics a month per camera (for me x6), 50 HD pics, free shipping on orders, 500 saved favorite pics. They are currently on sale for $75 with batteries and SD card. Also, they have good customer service. Had a trail cam get water in it during warranty period, contacted them and they sent me a new one. Couple of pics from yesterday evening and one I am watching.

Can you flesh out this a bit.
So you buy the cam and then pay $99/year and you get 250 pics per month per camera...or is that $99/yr/camera?

For the 500 saved favorites...cant you just download the photos when they (presumably) text them to you and save them forever for free, or do they somehow block downloads.

i cant speak to spypoint per say. but for tactacam it is a fee per year per camera. 120per year first camera, 96 for each after the first camera the fee decreases this is for the unlimited plan. i dont know currently but tactacam bad the best deal for how many cameras i was planning on having out. All cameras still have SD cards so you can pull them and download them to your computer. the save feature is more or less if your camera is in another state or hard to access area where you cant get back to the camera before it starts putting new pictures over the old photos. i have unlimited picture plans on mine. but from what i understand once you hit the 250 mark the camera would still take photos just saving them to the sd card instead of forwarding them to you. The photos it sends through the app on not high quality photos good for a phone but trying to blow them up on a computer they get grainy quick.... but im using cameras for scouting not photos on the wall.

Tactacams arent the cheapest cameras out there, but i ran the numbers two years ago and for the price of the camera and then the unlimited plan they were the most cost effective per yearly cost. i think that was comparing 3 cameras and plans

$99 a year gets you 250 pics for each camera you own. I have 6 cameras and they each have 250 pics a month. If you own 2, they each get 250. Yes you can save them off your off of your phone, or pull the SD card and save. I think it is more of a convenience thing having them all in one place in the app. With the no pay version, the photos online delete after 30 days and you cannot save any.

Was at Bass Pro today for some odds and ends, checked on trail cameras. I currently have a moultrie and a cuddeback that are SD card only. I'd like to have cell cams for ease of access. Bass Pro had Tacta-Cams, spy-cams, and moultries. Prices were anywhere from $115 to $180. Are you guys running solar chargers and lithium rechargeable batteries for each cam?

Any better places to buy from? Amazon or the like?
