Hey all

I have a good size chain and I haven't used it in a while and it has rust on it now. Its not like I can just take a wire wheel to it to remove the rust. What is something cheap and easy I can do to remove that rust?

Iv heard coke takes rust off? Could I just pour a whole bunch of coke into a container with the chain in it?

Hook it to the back of your what ever, and drag it down a dirt road till it's clean.

go ahead and laugh, but it works, and..............................it's easier than pushing it!

thats ALOT of naval jelly there

Put it in a 5 gallon bucket with a shovel full of gravel. Put the top on and roll it down a hill, repeat as necessary.

CLR works great as well.....again not sure how big or how much chain, but it works....

X2, when I was a kid I found an old rusty chain. I hooked it on the back of my bicycle & drug it around the hood till it was shined up again.

Thats some great redneck engine-earring right there!

being kinda lazy I like the just drag it behind the truck idea. I won't be that way in a while. Thanks though. What do you have, a bead blaster or something?

I got it for free

Pics??? Its just surface rust on a regular/HD chain

question: if it's just surface rust what are you worried about? Can't say I've seen too many chains that don't rust. Unless you plan on having the chain dipped and re-coated it's just going to rust again.... overnight.
