changing from warn drive flanges to locking hubs

I just bought a jeep off the board, it has a Dana 60 welded front, in the ad I think he said it had inner and outer 35 splines? but it has drive flanges I think they are called Warn I beleive, they are not selectable like locking hubs, I want locking hubs because of the welded front end, is there anything special I need to do to convert this over. Thanks is advance
 
the 60's come stockwith 30 spline outer's. aftermarket stronger shafts are 35 spline. sounds like its been upgraded. if you want locking hubs, just be sure you get 35 spline hubs. dont go to auto zone and ask for locking hubs for that axle, cause theyll give you the 30 spline count. the flanges are a lot stronger, i dont think youd have a problem reselling them. probably a lot of guys on here have 35 spline hubs that would trade you plus some coin. just take out the flanges and the hubs go on in their place. rob
 
thinking about ditching the weld for an ARB or detroit, are detroits still hard to turn even when they are not under power
 
No i have a detroit in mine with locking hubs, I never unlock them. Do you have hydro assist? With a 60 you probably do since you have more than likely 39 or bigger meats.
 
welded 14 bolt rear, front chevy 60 with detroit, drive flanges, and 39.5's. steered fine, (full hydro), dident seem to "push" too bad.

Keep the flanges. The 35 spline lockouts have less mass to make room for the bigger outers. I run flanges and don't have that much of a push problem. Hydro assist does help out.
 
Meant to tell you earlier tonight, but I could take my flanges out or install them in about 10 minutes if I needed to do some street driving (mine was welded in the front- steering was HORRIBLE, much worse than yours). Hubs would definetly be the weak point, you are better off sticking with the flanges and just pulling them out if you want to go cruising on friday night :D
