Should I do this? I have a J10 that I am turning into a j20 strictly for towing. Right now the j20 axles have 3.73s. Should I go to a 4.10 or just leave it alone. I will be running the stock 360/727/np208 combo with a 31inch tire.

Depending on your personal internal feelings while towing, 3.73s might be fine if you don't go bigger than 31-inch tires. Especially since you don't have OD.

A lot of people want 4.10s towing with a gas motor, but my K5 with 3.73s and 31s was fine with me. That said, my 77 1-ton rollback has 4.10s with a 454 and no OD - will pull one vehicle on the bed plus one on a trailer, but mpg sucks. :)

You can always try the 3.73 and switch to lower gears later if you don't like it.

I had 3.54:1 on my J truck running 32's. I contemplated running 4.10:1 gears many times, especially when towing up the big hills. Some changes to your engine would help a lot too. as in a Torquer cam and so on.
