i have a 84 4runner..stock 22r, it quit charging and put new alt. on and new voltage reg. and still no charge, check all fuses and wiring that i can find, exchange regulator again and had new alt checked, its checked good but getting another new one anyways, it still will not charge, was hoping someone could give any suggestions.

Thanks

Fusible link Inline anywhere?

what are the specific issues? Cna/have you checked the battery for 12+ volts? Does the runner just not start? Just turn over? If you 12+volts at the battery and it doesnt even try to turn over check the wire from the battery to the fuseable link (under hood fuse box). My 85 had the same issue for 2 years before I bought it with multiple starters replaced before I found out that wire had a break in it. Also check the wire to the starter.

Time for a GM 1 wire alternator upgrade. The reman ones you are buying simply don't work. They will put out volts, (What the auto parts place tests for), but no amps. I put 3 on my yota before giving up and going GM 1wire. Trail gear has a bolt on bracket for this now.

when you turn the key to the "on" position before starting does the "charge" light become illuminated. That has to work to tell the alternator to charge. That or fused link or battery and/or cables.

Thanks everyone for the help.....the battery is a new interstate and is good....4runner will start up and run ...with no problem...i already decided to swap to the gm 1 wire.....again thanks for the input
