Charlotte Auto Fair — April 4-7

Friday is better than Saturday. Sunday sucks. I don't know how Thursday is. If you want to see everything, it may take two days, LOL

Best deals are to be found on Thursday and sundays. I use to go twice a year, but havent been in a while.

We're heading up tomorrow morning to set up our spots in the Green Field. First time I've been on a Thursday. Thursday/Friday are good because everything hasn't been picked over yet. Late Saturday/Sunday is good because lots of people don't want to take their junk back with them so you can get some deals sometimes...you just might miss out on something that was there earlier in the week. From what I've seen, I think the majority of people set up on Thursday though.

I typically go on Saturday. Product selection from vendors, I’ve been pretty disappointed the last couple of years. I feel historically, vendors brought some good stuff and you could usually get a better deal, but now it’s primarily display pieces and you’re handed a catalog or card with a web address and told to get in contact when they get back. Used stuff, I still spend a few grand and find most of what I’m looking for. Bring a good pair of walking shoes...and if your thighs rub, wear some sliding shorts.

For heavier items, do they have designated times to bring in a vehicle to pick them up? I watched a video of a past show and saw folks on golf carts, pulling buggies, etc.

You just got to man up and carry it around all day :p....I don't think they have designated times, Probably have to arrange it with them if you are bringing a truck in though. They do offer a service for hauling if I'm not mistaken...

You can go to one of the yellow/white tents and geta pass to drive in after 4. Supposedly no golf carts allowed but did see a few last year. Thursday and fridays best days. Saturday is crowded. Sunday is a waste of time. Been going since the early 90s and vendor spaces since the late 90s. Usually get better deals out in the green and red fields from my experience.

I am hopefully to go by tomorrow morning. Still have to decide which parking area I want to use to have most convenience to all four flea market fields. I have only been to the speedway once before, last year for the Goodguys show.

I try to park over between red and green field behind the backstretch/turn 2 area. You have quick access to red and green where and can walk in a back gate to get to the infield. Look for a tent near the entrance they will have maps and directory so you can find vendors of specific parts, like mustang, Camaro, Chevy truck, etc

Went today and parked behind the speedway. Spent about four hours walking through all four sections. Surprised by the array of stuff for sale and the volume of very large oil and gas signs for sale. There were many I would’ve loved to have but have zero knowledge how to tell the originals from the reproductions which were there too. Bought a few small items and was fun to try and see it all. Next time I’ll remember sun screen and shorts.

Lots and lots of scooters all over.

Edit to add: There were still folks setting up at 11 when I started walking around. I was surprised to see a number of large tents all selling the same new products. I didn't see any company name on them though.

If anyone is looking for a really nice Pexto 48" 16GA stomp shear, there is one in the Blue field that comes with front material holding arms and rear material stops. No one was at the booth where it was up on a trailer, but the price on it was $800 which is really good.

I was just looking for tools, sanding belts and roloc pads (these were scattered in a number of spots for fair prices), and there were a few dedicated booths with nice Mac/Snap On etc, some with lots of nice USA Craftsman and one with a bead roller and shrinker/stretcher but otherwise the hand tools were mixed in with mostly parts and signs.

I went in the rain year before last on a Saturday. The guys with tents were open, pretty much any table or items in the open were covered by a tarp. If you live nearby it may be worth it, but I'll not drive 3 hours from Fayetteville in the rain again.

Yesrerday was nice....perfect weather. We’re holed up waiting on the rain to stop today. Still a few people with umbrellas out walking, but we’ve got most of our stuff under tarps.

We are sitting in the trailer messing around on the internet, hope it clears after while. i havent wasted any money on projects im not working on yet . lol
