Looking for a cheap JL/JT or JK d44 front axle housing. Can be bent, broke at the FAD, etc. Need the C's and diff housing to be good, I'm planning to retube it for passenger drop. Must be d44, not a d30.

If you want a pass drop d44 why not just start with mid 90s ram unit? You can find that in a u pull and save a lot of hassle. Knuckles out can be swapped for ford or Chevy knuckles brakes and stub shafts but it would be 5 on 5.5 as it is IMG_0409.jpeg

Considering building this to replace the Toyota front axle in my buggy. The Toyota axle has held up fine and I haven't had any breakage or issues but maintenance and trail repairs (if/when needed) aren't fun.

The JL/JT or JK D44 are much stronger than old school D44's. The JL/JT now have the option of 1410 or even 1480 u-joints, much larger/stronger inner C's, more aftermarket support for upgrades, unit bearings, etc. The JL/JT and JK axles seem to be same strength and weight compared to my Toyota axles. I have zero desire to go with 1-tons, the buggy works amazing as is and I don't want to change that. Plus my wheeling style doesn't require 1-tons.

The JL/JT and JK axles are similar in width to my Trail Gear Tacoma width front housing, so I can run off the shelf RCV inner axle shafts and not have to run a custom length inner.

I got a custom spec housing from Currie for use with 79 f150 shafts and knuckles, by the time you truss regear etc it’s definitely worth it. Them or ecgs might save headaches in the long run

I got the locker/ gears done by Currie and installed everything else myself
