I'm new to the forum and state figured is share one of the builds I did back home in vermont. Me and a buddies wanted a mud truck to beat on and only had a budget of 1000 bucks. Got ahold of this 02 Chevy 1500 5.3l vortec. It had a bad frame and missing 3rd and 4th gear in the auto ttransmission. Paid 700 for the truck. We took the bed off, doors, fenders, seats, hood sold it all for 550 bucks so we were back to 850 in the budget then spent 150 on some steal and 500 on a set of used 35" tires. Got a benchseat for free from an old flatbed Chevy and some free pressure treated 2x6 boards. Spent the rest on some exhaust pipe pieces and some pvc. Then went to work putting it all together. Built a small flatbed with angle iron and the boards. Bolted in the seat. Relocated the battery and fuse boxes from under the hood to inside the cab. Built a new radiator support/ ;grill out of some angle iron and some metal shelves we had. Got a hood from the same flatbed we got the seat from cut it down and made a hood. Then cut the exhaust right at the end of the cab right angled up into a 3" sstack.Built a snorkel out of some 3" pvc and a cone filter. Patched the frame. Put the tires on and then bam cheap mud truck was done and we continued to pound it through the pit in the back yard for a few months until it decided to have an electrical meltdown. It was fun to build and even more fun to pound on.

Awesome always enjoy a cheap beater build

How long did the folding chair stay in as the driver seat?

Where in Vermont are you from? I'm from Bradford. I have a friend that just moved to clayton from apex, but he grew up in Bradford too.

I am from plainfield vermont and the chair I used to pull the truck out of the shop so we had enough room to put the bench seat in lol
