Cheap as in I dont want to spend hundred$ on Dynamat, but want the same effect..ha ha

Refreshing the carpet on my 97 Cummins Dodge, and after driving it without carpet installed, I realize how much I would like for it to be quieter inside. Mostly the Cummins rattle/road noise and a little whine from the NV4500 with 220k. The shifter boots take care of most of the trans whine, its not terrible, but audible.

Anyone know some good stuff someone could find lying around somewhere, at the hardware store cheap, etc?

rubberrized undercoating that they wrap around masonary under ground works great and way cheaper. We use to buy it at lowes or talk to local masonary guys, they throw away scraps big enough to do what you need.

Goto the roofing section at lowes / home depot. they have some aluminum backed tar/rubbery stuff. Its about 6 mils thick and really works well. and its dirt cheap.

I think i have some left in the shop if you need a pic of it.

If you get the stuff from the hardware department, be aware that if it's asphalt based it will stink/run when it gets hot. I lined the trunk of my civic with it (cannot remember the brand name), and it absolutely stunk for 8months afterward.

Chevy tech one time told my buddy's mom to turn the stereo up to eliminate the rattle in her 2 week old tahoe. She damn near cut his throat haha

ck out secondskin.com its not too expensive
