cheapest/best place to buy steel in Charlotte?

where is the best place to buy steel around charlotte. im looking for 2x2x.25 square tubing primarily and also some DOM tubing?

i called a few places around town and the best price i could find was $73.00 for a 20ft stick of the 2x2?
 
i found the best prices so far at Howard's Steel off of Graham street close to 85N. thats on my way home so ill probably just use them. however they do not have DOM tubing.
 
Try Race City Steel in Denver. Damon can usually have anything you need next day and is a great guy to deal with
 
I guess I should have considered quantity into the price, the prices I remembered were from when we ordered 1000 sticks at school, atleast I remebered the selection correctly :D
 
problem with stock car steel and some of the other race shop steel suppliers, they do not deliver!

I found them to be reasonable when pricing, but when I asked about shipping/delivery, they said NO. Sometimes its worth it to just pay a tad bit more and have them deliver it to anywhere you want...
 
Stock car steel delivers they just don't care about you unless you're making a big order. Race city steel has no problem making the trip to deliver one stick to me if I need it and there isn't really a delivery charge even though they are an hour from my shop(they try to deliver to me when they deliver to evernham but have made the trip up there just for me before)
 
Stock car steel didn't want to deliver to Greenville, NC and I was ordering $3500 in tube :shaking:

they may deliver to a local place, but they didn't want to go out of town. Ryerson got my business then and has ever since. Great price and includes delivery.
 
That was at NASCAR technical institute where there 2 sessions of welding classes with usually 15-20 students in each 12 hours a day. We also built, rebuilt, or fixed show cars. They order so much at a time partially because welding students burn up alot of metal and they also didn't want to make trips too often.
 
Check into ALRO Steel in Charlotte. That is who I deal with at work when I need something. They seem to be the cheapest around but I didn't search really hard since I wasn't spending my own $ :)
