this is in my willys sitting between a v8 and a t90. I pulled the trans to rebuild it and didnt pay much attention to it (bellhousing) at the time, but thought it was unique and took this pic. so what Im interested in is the weird raised round ring on the motor side. soon I will be pulling this v8 in an attempt to swap in a chevy TBI motor. I was guessing that the donor was chevy instead of POM style. but now that I look at this pick Ive got no idea what this is. anybody got an idea? is there a ring on the back of the motor that this mates to?

You know for some reason i want to say that is the bellhousing to mate the T90 to the perkins deisel. Jeep came with them from the factory, but they are rather rare. I have never seen a circular pattern like that except for a deisel motor.

odd, but guys I swear to ya, its mated to a gm style v8 gas motor. could the motor have an adapter plate on the back of it that I didnt see?

the jeep is at my other house, its complete. dont want to bring it here and start this swap until I can figure out what the heck Im dealing with.

Ok, dug it out. Vanguard, you can use the pics posted in the first post. It IS a SBC to T-90 adapter. The one posted is exactly the same as mine, and mine was between the early SBC(1956 265ci) and a T-90. IIRC, there was an iron "ring" around the b/h, which I didn't get. I may be able to find it if my BIL didn't junk it. No markings on the adapter, but the retainer is marked GM 5 with the p/n 591620. Hope this helps
