Cherokee 4.0 Question

I have a 1988 Cherokee with a 4.0L and Automatic. I wanted to check the timing but the manual has no information for the injection models only the carb. Models.

The reason for this is it starts every time but spins more then I like for an injected motor.

Any help?

It's a 4.0 thing. Especially the older Renix ones. I've never seen a renix motor that didn't take more than 4 turns to fire.

I think you will also find the distributer is fix in place.The firing is done by the flywheel not the distributer,yes the dizzy points to the plugs.There is a sensor on the top of the trans near the drivers side fire wall.Timing is all done by computer.

may want to check fuel pressure reulator for leaking.

Or it could be the one way valve that is in the pump in the tank that holds pressure. It may just be a Renix thing though. Both my pre 91 XJ's did it but none of my newer ones did it unless the fuel pump was going out.
