I recently did an 8.8 swap in my cherokee with 4.56s. Didnt get to the front yet so I took the front driveshaft out. On my way up to Boone, going downhill at around 60ish miles an hour there was a noise that sounded like I hit rumble strips. This happened a couple of times and only lasted a second or two. Sounded like it came from the transfercase. Going downhill if I had the clutch in it didnt make a noise. Could it be because the front driveshaft is out or is it something worse?

hey man, i just solved this on a 5speed which was the trans main shaft bearing and won't make noise with clutch disengaged but when in gear it does, right? that sounds like the trans main shaft bearing. but if it just start with your swap only, then it would have to be either something from swap or coincidence that main shaft bearing went out right as the swap happened. welcome to bring it by the shop and look at it for you. hope things go well.
