cherokee rear hatch

the lock is locked and its shut completely. i dont have a key for the locks. i was only given a ignition key. is this the same as lock toyotas and you can remove the passenger side lock to get the keycode off the cylinder? thanks in advance

its an 88 jeep cherokee by the way if that matters

You should be able to open the rear gate, locked or unlocked by removing the rear gate interior panel. Here's a diagram for 97+.
I can't remember how similar the previous models were, but it shouldnt be too different.

I dont know how he did it. But I had a locksmith come out and make me some door cylinder keys.

isn't the same key used for the ignition and the doors? my 93 and 96 only have 1 key. works fine.

my 87 and a buddies 88 is not..... need 2 keys
