After my roll the other night is when I assume it started.......... My alternator will not charge on my truck. I have taken it off two times and taken it to be tested. It puts out 14.2 volts for them on their little testing machines. It will only put out 2 volts for me on the truck. I have tested it on the truck with NOTHING hooked to the alternator. Just mounted and belt spinning and I only get 2 volts. I have hooked the wire up and turned on every electrical component I have, and I get 2 volts. I have taken all grounds off of the engine, and cleaned them up to where they shine. I ground the frame down and re mounted the grounding wire. I even ran a grounding wire from the alternator bracket to the frame......... I am lost and don't know what else to do. It's internally regulated, and only has about 10 hours on it.

Any ideas?

Did you notice how the alternator sat on the testing bench?

A few years back had an identical ssituation with a friends truck following a fight with a tree.

End of the day, I disassembled the alt and a wire was grounding to the windings, but when it was turned 180 degrees gravity broke the circuit.
Just so happened that the test bench at advanced was upside down from the truck mount.

It sat opposite than it is on the truck....... I guess what I am saying is My truck spins it backwards compared to Advance's machine, and the local alternator shops machine. So, yes it was upside down on their benches compared to being on my truck.

I don't know if I should take it apart and look or not. Never taken one apart.
