My foot slipped off the throttle in the driveway and the motor began to rev alot. It would not respond to the footfeed. I pulled off the intake and the plate on the throttle body was cracked open, I opened it and found another crecent shaped half plate w a lip on the edge that WAS attached to the main plate had come off, kinda riveted to it before. Cant service the plate only and don't want to buy a new TB $$$$. Anyone fixed one before, I'm thinking I could drill out both and bolt it back together w some small bolts nuts and lockwashers. I called a junkyard and was told good luck finding a tb he's been lookin for over a month. It cranks now, but idles about 4-500.

With 4.3 do you have, vortec I assuming? They shouldn't be to bad to find, do you have any pictures of what you are trying to explain.

Thanks, I found a couple after lookin some more. Two at one salvage yard $75 NO warranty what so ever ! , and one over an hour from here w 6 mo warranty for $135. I'm thinkin w my luck, and jackleg repair, the motor would be eatin a small bolt, nut and lockwasher one day!!

Thanks gt but no it's a Vortec w TBI w the big, round bore, I found one at a junkyard $45 no warranty but it's basically just a big round butterfly and 2 sensors, not alot to go wrong or wear out, except breaking like mine. goin to get it now.

Anybody know what the small bulbshaped sensor in the TB does? I was carefull not to get any brake cleaner on it when I cleaned the bore and base on the used one.
