For those of you with Chevy/GM 6.0’s, what kind of mileage are you getting when NOT towing?
Specifically, I would be interested in knowing for a 4WD 4-door version. Tell me what year yours is and if there are any mods too.
Thanks!

i have a 01 2500hd ex cap 4wd and i getting 13 around here and about 14 on a long run but i get 10 pulling anything. i got 12 before i put 33s on it

02 2500hd 4dr 4x4 w/ 4:10 gears 13-14 empty 10-12 towing my rig w/ Bully Dog programer/K&N cold air intake/dual exhaust

03 2500HD crewcab shortbed 4.10s i get 12-13 in town and 10 towing

I had an 05 2WD Ext Cab Long Bed w/4:10's. I averaged 9-10 empty and 9-10 towing. It did not matter if I was on a hill, empty or had 11K behind me. Best tank ever was 11 MPG's 65 MPH on flat road and hugging the bumper of a semi.

I have gotten as good as 18 mpg with mine going to the beach. 02 xcab 4wd with 410 gears. I drive a lil slower than most people though. If i keep up with traffic its about 13mpg on the highway. I get 12mpg towing to ure and 8 to mtn city. Cant complain though, still cheaper than maintaing a diesel.

I know you asked for 4wd. But I think knowing the gear ratio really helps make the difference in the numbers.

My g3500 (van) has 3.73s and I get 17mpg highway (@70mph) and constantly get 11 towing 8k (@65)

2002 Yukon Denali. Stock 265/70/17 nice street tires. All wheel drive.

Sees about 15~16mpg on the highway. 14 towing the boat (more like towing a giant wall rather than weight).

Badass truck...except for the MPG.

01 2500HD ECSB 6.0 4x4 auto, 5.13 gears with 37s, magnaflow and EFI LIVE tune, averages 13, got 11 towing 9k, best was 14 driving to the beach. Before that it was 4.10s on 285s, same exhaust/tune, that would get me a best of 16, averaged 14 normally.

Biggest thing with these engines paired with 4.10s is to not go fast on the highway, they don't like the higher rpms, I get the best right around 60-65 mph, it drops off sharply after that. Although a larger tire could help with that a bit.

02 2500hd reg cab long bed ,4x4, 4.10s, 285s ,all stock , 11 mpg anywhere/anything behind it. no long trips on it tho. its an around the farm kind of truck.

Do you have to run premium in the 6.0s??
No, not even in the higher compression lq9 (Escalade/SS)

I run it in mine because I rarely drive it, and I had always heard premium was less susceptible to varnishing.

I run premium in mine when tow or every couple of tanks, otherwise regular when it a daily driver.

I have a good friend with an '02 GMC 6.0 auto, says he gets 11-12 around town, and 8 while towing his trail rig. And it screams the whole time while doing it....

Yeah you def have to make them scream while pulling the hills. Im hold mine to the mat all the way up 421 mtn pullin my jeep.

I'm impressed...real MPG numbers that seem believable...now if we could just get the diesel owners to not inflate their MPG numbers.

I dunno.... I'm kinda shocked the numbers are this bad.

If my 5.9 doesn't get 18+ empty and around 20 on a highway tank, I figure something's wrong with it.

I got 19.5 mpg traveling from the triad to the Volvo plant up in Dublin, VA a few weeks ago.

I got 13.9 mpg towing my Samurai to the Flats two weeks ago. It has no windshield, and probably only weighs 2,100 lbs though. It gets much worse mileage towing my cab truck (4,700 lbs), but I haven't measured it. I'd guess 10 mpg though.
