I am working on a friends 88 cheyenne 1500 steering. The pivot pins are causing problems. I have tried the remover tool and it broke without budging. I then try to thread a bolt to a slide hammer and it does not move and I pinched my finger. I had to drill out the one pin where the removal tool broke. The metal is tough. Is there any other method of getting these pins out? I have thought about drilling the hole out big enough to retap the hole a bigger size bolt, but that is a long process and I do not think my bits are going to hold up. Thanks

Pivot pin? Not exactly sure what your talking about.

He's talking about the annoying little pins in the steering column where it tilts. The puller tool or something that you made simliar to that is all I've ever seen used.

Well i ended up just swapping columns, but the new column has delay wipers instead of standards wipers. trying to figure out what it will take to make the wipers work. i wonder if I just swap the pulse board and it will work. Any ideas?

If its any thing like a jeep from that year, which uses a GM column. There should be a black box plugged in with the wires going off the column to the wiper motor. The black box controls the delay function. If you want delayed wipers, plug the box from the donor truck into the wiring. If not, just don't use the black box and the wipers will still work as normal, just no delayed wipers.
