My sister has an 89' S-10 Truck, 2.5 liter.

She says the truck would cut off while driving, just dies. Recrank it and its good. Well now when you start it and let off the key it dies. It will run as long as you hold it in the start position on the key switch.

I am thinking its in the rotating part of the key switch (At least thats what I advise her it was), but I know nothing about S-10s or chevys. So I was hoping for reassurance.

I had a honda do this once and that was the issue on it.

What do yall think?

i know the answer to this, just not at the moment. i will check my notes in the morning. this was a common problem on certain models, it's just not in my memory at the moment(i hate getting old)
maybe someone who has a better memory will chime in before morning.

i think its the electrical part of the ignition switch, does she have 5000 pieces of crap on her keychain?

She just got a few weeks ago and its had the shut off problem every since she got and just started the won't stay running issue.

The PO could have had a crap load of stuff on it the key ring. I see what your saying, I and that what I was thinking also.

I spoke to her husband just now, and he replaced it last week and I has the same issue.

He got a new one unplugged the harness at the ignition starter switch and plugged in the new with out mounting it if that matters, turned it with a screw driver and it does the same thing, Shuts off as soon as you let off the starter.

the dj5 mail jeeps have this problem when the starter solenoid or wire connections go bad
