Chevy truck rear end interchange

What rear ends will interchange into a 78 GMC Suburban 3/4 ton.

I think I was told that any 14-bolt from a 1974 to 1987 3/4 ton truck or Suburban will bolt right in. I was talking with a friend of mine and he said a 92 rear end should bolt right in.

Can anybody help with this?

It's kinda hard to say. I have seen several widths on the spring pads basesd on the width of the frame and spring hangers. You may have to cut off and reweld the spring perches-not that big of a deal. Other differences are full float-or semi float, and there are several sizes of brake drums.
