Looks like we will be moving the last week in Sept to the Kernersville/Winston area. I don't really know that much about the area yet, but I have a 19 month old daughter that I need to find care for M-Th. To me, this is the biggest stressor of the whole move. Since she is my only daughter right now, I guess that's normal...LOL.

Does anyone have any recommendations/reviews of child care places in the area? Right now she goes to an in-home care place of a friend that has 3-4 kids. Unless something falls thru, looks like we will be just off of I-40 between K-ville and Winston.

Right off of Main st off I-40 there is a church that offers great daycare for kids all ages. My Girlfriends neese's and nephews go there. I am not sure on the price but I do know it is a great place and gets alot of great reviews.... I can't think of the church name but it is right across from lowes home improvment on Main st. in K-ville.

Thanks for the tip! I will check it out.

Day care. Yay. It ain't cheap anywhere. The crappy joints are about $700/mo. The nicer places are about $700/mo. The nicest one we found when we were looking was called "The Sunshine House." Neither of them is very close to where you're going to be, though. Depending on where your commute takes you, you might be able to make it to one or the other easily, though. It was a very nice facility. Didn't stink like so many of them we checked out. In the end, I decided to stay home with Boy. What I'm losing in pay was about what we'd be paying a daycare.

If I could find a good in-home caretaker that I could trust, I'd seriously consider that, but they're harder to find than a good moonshine hookup!

Thats Triad Baptist Church.

I don't know abou that one in particular but the one my daughter goes to is only half a day.

Just around the corner from Triad Baptist Chuch, behind Arby's and the bowling alley is a place Primrose. My wife worked there for a few years when she was in school I believe its either a 4 or 5 star rated school. It would be worth checking out.

Wow, these things are expensive! I glanced at all of the church day cares in that area and they are $150-$170ish per week . Right now we are paying $75 for 3-days a week for home care with a lady that we really like in Burlington. Wife has sticker-shock

yup!
Kids are expensive!

Note, at least there is a pre-tax deduction for childcare, and even a direct credit (depending on income), if your employer has "flex" benefits it can be taken out of your paycheck pre-tax and refunded.

But, yeah esp. once you have 2+ kids, it becomes hard to justify working once you add this in.

Im not sure of the price but im gonna suggest Primrose Daycare on Masten Drive right off main street in kville. I have two good friends that work there and they are both very great with kids and from what i know the daycare is a good place. Im sure the price would be inline with the other prices you were getting but if i needed daycare i wouldnt hesitate on taking my son there.

Thanks for the reference! We have called a few of the less expensive places and have been less than impressed with the people we have spoken to. Most of them could barely speak English. :shaking:

$170 per week is dirt cheap! Come to raleigh, the baby room at Primrose was $1400 per month!

We were lucky enough to get into Rex Hospital's day care, 5 star facility, it's $800 per month. Very much worth it. All employee's have degree's, background checks, etc. Onsite security is a major plus.
