Child seat Questions

I know NC changed all the rules on cars seats and booster recently...but I didn't know the rules before either...

My nephew is coming up from Fla today and I would like to ride him around in the Jeep with me...I have NO rear seat, I have NO air bags, I DO have stock seat belts. He is ~50#'s, 45 inches tall, and Seven years old (almost eight).

IS HE ALLOWED TO RIDE IN MY JEEP???

DO I HAVE TO HAVE A BOOSTER SEAT FOR HIM???
 
I peeked at the link, looks good to me.

There is a new law that just came into effect concerning 5-8 year olds. I call this the "Your kid is gonna get beat up daily law". They now say that 8 years or 80 pounds is the cutoff for a booster seat. Next thing you know training pants will be the norm until puberty.
 
His mom sent the booster seat along...but the weather has sucked since he's been here anyway...so no top down cruizin'...Looks like the sun will be out for a few minutes today...I'll give it a shot.
