I am trying to find a place that can clean my chimney. Who do you guys have good luck with?

We had Chimney swifts this year and I haven't heard or seen them in the past couple of days, so I think they are finally gone. I have a guy that it going to put a cap on my chimney, but wanted to get it cleaned first.

Whats the going rate for a chimney clean?

Interested in knowing this as well. As for your cap, where did you get it and who is installing? I need to do the same.

I made my own cap with stainless and expanded metal. Basically no 2 chimneys are the same so you basically need to make your own for a good seal.

And cleaning is really REALLY easy and those guys are way overpaid... You can buy the rods and a brush at Lowe's for nearly nothing. Think $8 per 10' rod and like $10-15 for your particular brush. I clean mine and my grandmothers and it really is very easy... And I discovered it only needs it once every 2 years for light users and once a year for heavy users for the brush does wear the brick a tad every cleaning. Shop vac after all said and done and it's usually like a 2 hour job at most if you stretch it out.

The initial cap is an all day job...

I'll throw it out there I'll google and charge the going rate for Chimney Swift work and do cleanings in RDU area any time. :)

I wouldn't mind doing it myself, but the pitch on the roof in my current house is such that I don't trust myself up there.
