Anybody wheeled and stayed there? I was thinking about making the trip in October to meet some buddies down there and wanted to know if there was a preferred place to stay or not. I may camp but thinking a hotel sounds better.

Is there a good, bad and ugly down there, or anything I should be aware of? Thanks!

There is a nice hotel around the corner behind a bonangles in town. We stayed at a roach motel after getting down there late one night, would have been cleaner to sleep in the truck. Can't remember the name of either place. If you're going to drink buy it before you go down, someone is getting rich off that stuff down there!

Good to know, thanks...

Does this Hampton Inn sound about right?

How is this place to ride? I have a buddy that's been trying to get me to go with him but I just got my jeep together and still working out some kinks. Could I do it on 31's? I think he's only on 33's on his lj

The Hampton Inn is the place to stay.

Good riding. Reminds me of the flats. Dry it borders on boring but still rough on equipment. Add water and watch the fawk out...

I personally would not bother taking rigs on 31/33's there unless you were going to watch an event. There are a lot of road type trails there for you but not much else to my recollection, not to mention it's a long way from you.

I'm in Jacksonville Florida until September so it's not that far. Hell I drove from Florida to north Carolina to go wheeling with a buddy and shake down the jeep

We wheeled down there last year. Had a fun time. The place isn't huge, but it's certainly enough to keep you occupied for a weekend. My Bronco is on 35's and it could do most stuff there, but there were several rutted out hill climbs that I would just high center on. The place is really close to town, like less than five minutes from the hotel we stayed at. Which was good, because my power steering pump crapped out and we had to run back into town and buy one. Be warned, when you're first looking for it the GPS may get you into the area, but not exactly to it. You drive in through a very residential neighborhood and it doesn't seem like there would be an off road park entrance there, but there is.

Me and a buddy of mine wheeled it last year and had a blast. We will heading that way again Labor Day weekend this year.

Here is a map of the park.....
