So, this weekend is usually when my little family starts our Christmas fun. We usually start by going to pick out a tree, finish decorating, and its usually Christmas movies on all the time. Thinking of sort of branching out this year and doing more stuff. With my daughter being 3, I really want to embrace the season this year. Its been a little rough for us the last couple of months with illnesses in the family and we are finally getting back on track and just need some positivity and some fun to help us bounce back. So need some ideas on things we can do around the triad. We usually go to Salem Creek with my family, visit Tanglewood, and usually riding around looking at Christmas lights. Thought about trying to do something a little different, maybe Disney on Ice for the daughter, maybe a Christmas play?

What are some of the family Christmas family traditions or activities you all like to do?

I heard the Christmas thing at the Greensboro Nature Science Center was great. Better than Tanglewood actually

Funny story about The Polar Express in Bryson city. I have always been a fan of The Polar Express book since I was a kid, so one year probably about 5-6 years ago, I must have been in my mid to late 20's, my parents bought myself and my wife tickets to go. We drive there, only to find out, its really meant for kids. We were the only folks on the train without kids and was just awkward, BUT I would love to take my daughter now.

Have you driven through Sunset Hills neighborhood with the Christmas Balls? It is definitely worth doing if you live in or close to Greensboro.

Carowinds is decorated for Christmas, has a parade each night, and lots of singers and fire pits. Not all the rides are open, but it’s still neat to see.
Charlotte Motor Speedway is cool at Christmas.

If you're close to Kannapolis, the Village Park train ride with their lights and the carousel is pretty cool if you have littles.
You can Google or Facebook more info.

If you want to see a professional level light show on a house check out 7800 Haw Meadows Rd.

Not exactly Christmas, but does get you in the spirit.... tonight, we went up to the Chinese lantern festival in Cary. Really cool. I actually enjoyed it. Lots of people, but not horribly crowded.

We load everybody up get a dd and go look at the lights Dublin not duplin winery has a heck of a drive through lights show probably takes 30mins to go through right easy

We’ve been talking about doing Trans-Siberian Orchestra with the girls…probably include the girls/start that tradition next year, they love the music and lights. Did the nutcracker last year, one loved it, the other was ready to leave after 10mins. Tanglewood (or any lights) are always a hit, so we try to hit as many locations as possible (local neighborhoods and houses). The wife and kids always do the local parade. We usually take an early/mid-January vacation to somewhere warm(er). But I think the biggest hit is always the Polar Express at the Transportation museum, we usually grab a 4 person table…

Man this wholesome thread messed me up. I read the title and instanly went garage material in my head.

A full day of messing with the wife's Christmas tree lights and hauling box after box after box of decorations down from the upper level seasonal decoration department.....or two large spare bedrooms as most people would use them.
