Thinking bout a chrome book. Like to stay less than $500, but not a deal Breaker. Any thoughts? Got some eBay things I need to do. Also looking at future use. The future seems to be mostly web based. Microsoft is looking to be not a good option.

Asus if you have a budget. I follow the Chrome Unboxed blog, and they have lots of current info on deals and new/upcoming releases on the blog. ChromeOS runs great on basic hardware that would get obliterated if it tried to run Windows, so for basic usage there's really no need to buy one of the more expensive Chromebook models (they can go well over $1k, which is silly).

I have a first gen chromebook plus. It does get the 14 hr battery life. The aluminum case is soso. It does what I need it to do.

Chrome unboxed, good source, thanks

I just bought a Samsung. It will do anything 99% of people would need. And it was $150.
