Hey all, I don't know if this information is listed anywhere else on the site or not. I recently purchased a '98 XJ. It has a Chrysler 8.25" rear differential installed. I need to replace the rear brakes and rotors, but I am unsure what vehicle the rear came out of. The previous owner has been less than helpful. Is there any way to figure out what vehicle it was originally in? Hopefully the pictures help a little bit.

are you sure it isnt the original rear axle?

That's a Chrysler rear end. It's stock in that jeep. You just need new DRUM brakes for it.

It very well could be the factory rear diff, but I'm positive it has rear disc brakes... I just went to source the ROTORS from a local parts store and they only had drums listed.

If you have disc brakes in the rear, and you 100% know it's an 8.25 there is a good chance the PO swapped over ZJ rear disc. If just take one of the rotors to the pets store and compare it with a ZJ rotor

Ahh. I usually proof read, but I'm tired. Auto correct sucks... Y'all know what I mean

Depending on you parts store you may actually get about the same lousy help from a pet store.
