So get this, Sunday morning we go to church for bible study and then service. Everything is the norm we sing, learn, and have service. The church takes up an offering just like every Sunday from bible study and the church service. After service we leave to do some running around before we had to go back to church for the kids Xmas play rehearsal. When the night service starts we learn that the church was broken into some time after morning service. The criminals stole the bass guitar, a six string guitar (this belonged to a member), and Sunday mornings offering right out of the plate. Our church is not very big and doesn't have a lot of money and this is just super low for someone to do. The church is East Lincolnton Missionary Baptist Church so if anyone hears anything please let me know so it can be forwarded to the police.

On a side note everyone here is invited to attend any Sunday we are always happy to have new people show up for service.

We have caught people rummaging around DURING the Church service! Dude tried to tell my uncle he was there to "see the pastor." So my uncle had him sit in on the service until it was over. Ours used to get broken into once or twice a year, though. Churches are easy targets. Security's usually low and they're easy to break into. Still, sorry it happened to you. Y'all aren't alone.

I find it odd that you attend church regulary, but yet you use "Xmas" instead of Christmas. Sorry to hear of the break in and robbery.

Short hand, doesn't always have the bad connotation people give it. Back in Jesus's time Greek was a predominately spoken language, and there were a lot of illiterate people. The The first two letters of Jesus "Christ"s last name are represented by the Greek letter chi or X and he was commonly known by the first two letters of his last name Chi-rho Xp as was early Christianity as a whole.

Sorry to hear of the breakin, that is really low of someone to do.

my church had a problem with car break-ins during the service a few years back, so now the ushers make periodic rounds outside during the service to help prevent that... it has worked so far, and definitely made us step up security everywhere around there...

yup.
Our pastor uses "X-mas" all the time - for this reason.

Reminds me of one of the local churches that doesn't have a church building. I can't remember if they meet at a movie theatre or a school, but all their equipment gets stored in a trailer. Probably a year ago someone stole their trailer. So they put up billboards about the "church trailer thief". Some were quite humorous. One of their videos they put out said if the thief would just return the equipment, the thief could keep the trailer.
Here is the only pic I could find.

Some area church's in our area were vandalized. Back when copper and aluminum was so high, they stole the HAVC units from outside.

They were caught!

I have always used Xmas instead of Christmas just because it's faster to type. It still has the same meaning however it is written.

I know this is probably a long shot, but I have to go for it. Four weeks ago I had two guitars, a pedal and a mic stolen from the church I play at in Garner NC. It is the Capital Church on Hwy. 70. The items stolen were my Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 10 Top Quilted Flame Maple Bird Inlay - Blue in color and my Larrivee Acoustic LV-03E, (this guitar holds sentimental value due to the fact it was given to me by my mother before she died 3 yrs. ago.) The other items were a Buddha Wah Pedal and a Shure Beta 58 Mic. IF YOU HAPPEN TO COME ACROSS THESE ITEMS, ESPECIALLY THE GUITARS, PLEASE KNOW THEY ARE STOLEN. I WOULD ASK FOR YOU TO PLEASE GET IN CONTACT WITH ME. REWARD OFFERED. 919-612-4088. THANKS FOR ANY INFORMATION..........NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!!!!!

This is my Brother-in-law. Those two guitars are thousands of dollars to replace. He is pissed right now!

It is really sad that it's getting to the point that a church needs to have a security alarm, surveillance cameras, and/or a patrol just make sure the contents of the church are safe. People are so desperate nowadays that they will do just about anything to get something for free. I told our pastor that I would look into some surveillance equipment to install and found out that it is going to cost at least $800 for the cameras and a capture card. If anyone knows of a cheaper system please let me know as I will be funding this myself when we get our taxes back since the church really can't afford it because it needs a new roof.

A few years ago, someone broke into my Jeep. They bypassed the stereo, CB, tools, etc. and the only thing they took was my Bible.

We had our tire and wheels stolen off our church van a few years back. Worked out in the the end. The theives got a set of dodge stealies ans the insurance replanced them with a nice set of aluminum wheels and new tires. The aluminum were much cheaper lol. Van loos better too LOL. Oh yeah and we got four brand new cinder blaocks LOL.

Those 10-top PRS are really recognizeable not really a bunch of them around. Larrivees aren't exactly super common either. Sucks that some POS's took 'em. From a church no less...

Even that wah pedal is pretty uncommon, buddha isn't a huge manufacturer. Go talk to local music shops and pawn shops with pics/SNs of the instruments. Somebody trying to sell a blue 10-top PRS and a LV would get remembered, if they haven't sold them yet it'll be hard to do if all the shops know they're stolen.

I'll keep my eyes peeled around this area, I'm always in the couple pawn/music stores we've got. Sucks that it was so long ago but those are REALLY distinctive instruments, especially the PRS.

I am partners in a Security and Fire Alarm Company in here in town, We installed quite a bit of protection on those units when that was happening, They only get at most $40 a unit in copper. :shaking:

Cameras are really tough to get to see what you want them to see in a location like a church, Cameras work good in a store or location where the area is confined. Putting in an alarm would help ward off burglars more than cameras will help catch them. The $800 Sams club or internet deals are ok, But the quality is not that great. If your interested in cameras I can get you some links to some good cameras that will be a ton better than the store bought ones, for around the same cost.

Update:

Well we got the bass guitar back and the person that stole it was caught. He was also caught with one of the 40 guns that was stolen from our deceased pastor's house; unfortunately the Les Paul six string acoustic was traded for crack rocks. The person that broke into the church actually went to the church with his mom and step-dad on occasion and since he had one of the stolen guns on him when he was caught we have reason to believe he was involved with that break-in as well. So for all of you (including myself) wondering what kinda of person would break into a church there you have it. The same kind of person that could be sitting right next to you in church. How sad. :(

Glad to here they atleast got some of the stolen property back. Like it was stated above, churches are easy targets. Security systems and security guards in plain clothes are becoming the norm now instead of the "doors always unlocked" way it used to be.

Its just the way the world is getting to be now. It will only get worse before it gets better.
