i need a good alternative for springs on the CJ

its an 83 CJ7, would YJ springs work? i have read mixed threads, some saying they will work, some saying the center pins dont line up.

any ideas? IF i am going to lift, i am only looking for 2-2.5 inches.

what are some decent options?

OK, I jumped the gun a little bit. There is a difference in the width on the fronts. I had spacers on mine, so the spacers just come out to use the YJ springs. Sorry about that.
As far as lift, probably not, I went from home built packs to 3 1/2" BDS lift springs. The BDS springs have lost the arch because of weight, and being spring over. Next time I will put an add-a-leaf in or maybe an S-10 main cut down(something I read)

If I were only going to lift it 2-2.5" then I would just use BDS 2.5" CJ springs. I have run a set for about 5 years now and they ride, handle & flex very well.
They also have the lifetime warrenty if/when they loose their arch.

BDS makes excellant shocks as well, but since I'm cheap I go to autozone and buy the Gabirel truck Rider LTs. They have a life time warrenty, are gas pressurized and offer sizes for lifted CJ's and usually are only around $20.00. I have warrentied about 2 sets on my trail Jeep (and need to again now) and use them on my Sunday Jeep and on several other Jeeps over the years.
I've always had bad luck w/Ranchos in the past.

are there any stock leafs from other vehicles that could give an extra 2 inches or so? that would work for a CJ? probably wont go that route but i am curious.

76-86 CJ springs are 2" wide up front, 2.5" on the rear. YJ springs are 2.5" wide all around. I think stock YJ springs are flat, while CJ springs have a little arch to them. Using stock YJ springs SUA will lower your CJ, plus you will have to get different front spring plates, U-bolts, shackles or spacer bushings.

I would just spend a couple hundred bucks on a small lift kit (springs and shocks). I'm really happy with my Skjacker Softride springs. I opted fo rsome Rancho RS9000. The shocks are adjustable, but I havent adjusted them for years; I think mine are set at the equivalent of the RS5000s.
