it was a real task to get this in. I ended freezing the bushing and I went in with the socket and hammer. I gave it a good ding on the face. If it matters I'd rather pull it out and put another 4 dollar bushing in. I am not sure if anything touches this face. Should I replace it?
Cj pilot bushing- did I screw it up.

You shouldn't be putting any load along the crank axis from the input shaft, so I wouldn't worry about the ding. As long as you haven't deformed the bushing bore then should be fine.
