I have got 81cj7 with a T176 4 speed. I have had it about 4 years but its been a work in progress until the last 2 months. I turned it into my DD this month and right away new I needed a tranny jumping out of 1st and 3rd and grinds going into 2nd. well I twisted my drive shaft into and had to have one made(hats off to Oliver's custom shafts). after installing the new one I started losing geal oil from the rearend so I replaced the seal. Now while I've had the cj I have finished bolting it together and buying parts need but haven't really done in upkeep(maintenance) and haven't really thought about it. So I changed all the gear oils front,rear,transfer and tranny and now my tranny works great(the oil was almost like water)
. My question how often do you really need to change these oils and whats the best to use. I used lucas in all, but thats just what autozone had the most of. I know some here can help or can turn me to the information I need.
