well evidently my head light a spotlight and fog light wiring is a fire hazard and my lights wont even work im plannin on re doing it and was wondering if anyone had some advice or knew where i could find a diagram the wiring is really ugly but i plan on fixin that so any help would be nice

unfortunately someone did a custom job...

well then a wiring diagram's not gonna be much help.

Do you have the floor mounted dimmer? Take a look at the 3 wires going to it. Mine were pretty corroded and smoked once in a while. I just replaced the switches a few weeks ago and spliced new wires in, seems to be better.

Shew :shaking: yer bringin' back memories of a 75 hr total rewire job I did a while back on my 76 cj5. (cuz someone, who shouldn't have, had done a bunch of wiring work that ended with my fuse box having a major melt down, literally)

If your going custom any way think about adding relays.
they take a ton of the amp load off the wiring to your switches. Alot of rigs from the cj era (40's technology built in the 70's) have switches (both dimmer and headlight) that aren't rated for the amp load of halogens, a relay will alow you to stick with the stock switches.

As for wiring diagrams if your stuff is stock or close to it, then haynes is good. If it's modified much you might try searching for some generic hot rod wiring diagrams. They helped me alot. As for adding relays most of the realys I've bought have the diagram printed right on them.

well we spent about 3 hours on it and took out all the extra lights and wires and im ashamed to say this but i though the guy had made it so that u had to flip a switch and i just pulled on one of the buttons on the dash and well yea the head lights fired rite up...
