I have a 79 CJ and am going to drive this one for fun. I was wondering if anyone has done one of these conversions and are ther worth the money for street driving???
I am trying to get a little (I said LITTLE) smoother ride for street driving and try to clear up some bump steer. It has 2.5" of lift in springs.
Any help would be great

I did a reversal on my first cj. Made it myself, and its worth it. It was alittle smoother and the handling was better. If you have the money to buy a kit it would be worth it, but if you can fab. yourself its cheaper. I had 4" springs.

I have the front part of a trailmaster kit and was thinking of welding the stock front hangers with a spacer for the shackel. Is that what you did??? or can this work???

Thanks for any help

I did this with 1/4" steel. Made patterns and had them cut out by a burn table (computerized plasma). Full width and stock. I'm not clear on what you explained, and not familiar with the trailmaster kit, but I've seen the front-rear spring perch put on the front. Down side is it will move the front axle back therefore decreasing the wheel base. And alot of trimming to the fenders. So, this will work but a extension of the frame will have to be made.
There are two other kits, one I can't think of the name and other by M.O.R.E.. I believe 4wd hardware sells them both.

Thanks for the info. I meant I would move the stock front hanger to the rear of the spring and weld it to the frame to hang the shackle. And use a spacer if I needed to for clearance. ( I dont think I will need one looking at Instructions from some of the kits out there

Thanks again for the info
