Cleaning Aluminum

Hey guys, I've got an Offy intake on my 4.2l that's pretty grimey. While I got the engine out I'm giving it a lil clean up. I've tried several cleaners/degreasers on the intake to bring it back to "like new" but it's not working. Short of blasting it, any recommendations?

There's a product called alumabrite i've used several times. @jeepyj1129 sells it. I may have some left at my shop but it's been a while. Also, I'm taking my "new" tj tub to get blasted next week. If you could help me get it on/off the trailer I could get them to blast it too for free.

I wound up scrubbing it with hot soapy water and a scotch-brite pad. Came pretty clean. I'm gonna spray some OTC ceramic shield on it and call it a day.

I'd be more than happy to help you load/unload your tub, just give me a call or text and let me know what day. 828-406-5295. (I seriously need to get a SC #)
 
FWIW there are a few different aluminum acid cleaners out there that are amazing as long as you dont leave them on too long...but muriatic acid from lowes is aas good as any...

It's not really a big deal, I was just trying to make it up to you for the cedar logs you gave me. I haven't lived in nashville since 05 and I'm still rocking a 615 number lol
 
Well if ya ever need some help, just give me a buzz. I'm glad somebody could use those logs. How's that shanty coming along anyways. If ya wanna make it up invite me down for fishing and beer lol

We can do that! I rarely do anything on weekends so if you have a good sat morning or evening and want to get out just let me know and we can set it up. Im about 5 mins away from landsford canal and we can be in the boat on fishing creek reservoir in 30 mins.
 
As for the shanty...One of these days...Damn boat.
