Hey guys. My wife's car had a problem with the EVAP system, and it had the check engine light. I finally got a round to fixing it (only 2 months after the tag expired!), and now I hve to get the car inspected.

How many miles do you have to drive after clearing the codes before you can pass inspection. I've heard 100 or 200. Is anyone here an authority on the subject?

if its a chevy s10 or blazer with v6 and stick shift have fun :fuck-you: thay can take up to 700-800 miles to reset .

realy we need more info. what kind and model of car ?

some easy and like i posted at the top have fun with this one.

codes have to be cleared then then drove to reset the parameters. some cars have a drive sequence others don't but all parameters should be reset with in 100-150 miles. you can get a three day pass for 5 dollars at your tag office

I wound putting 150 miles on my 2000 Ford Focus and the code still showed. I put another 25 on itand it was gone. Most of the time 100-150 miles does the trick. Get the 5 dollar tag and drive it for a few days.

You can take it to get it inspected, they will tell you it's not ready, but they can print out a sheet that tells you what you have to do to get all the readiness codes to set. We do them on BMW's all day in about 30 miles. Just keep the RPM's below 3k or it will stop the test.

Thanks for the responses! It's a 1998 Volvo V90. I fixed the problem and cleared the codes about 125 miles ago, so it looks like I probably just have to keep driving over the weekend, and it will be okay?
