My slave cylinder bit the dust and to continue wheeling for a bit I used power steering fluid. I think this killed my master.

Now I have some used parts in both places. I have fluid at the slave. When I press the pedal the master fluid level goes up but the slave does not actuate. Bad slave or am I missing something?

My guess I'd the master. The Toyota slaves are stupid simple, they will have to leak or seize to fail.

Last time I changed 84 Toyotas slave cyl. I was suprised to find the rebuild kit cost more than a whole reman. unit  . In my experience it's a good idea to change/rebuild the master and slave at once if one starts to leak cause the unfixed unit will start to leak soon from the pressure of the tighter seal on the new unit.
