I'm sorta between a rock and a hard place here....I'm looking for a clutch for my 99 Silverado. Not sure if any of yall have ever looked, but other than a stock replacement, my choices are limited. I know CenterForce makes one and so does Spec, so I'm pretty set on a Spec.

When I swapped in the 6.0, I put in a stock clutch and it didn't live very long before I smoked it one good time.

Now then, I'm not sure if I want to go with a Spec stage 2 or a stage 3. They're the same price, just a slightly different clutch. The stage 2 is a full disc, Kevlar based material. Stage 3 appears to be a 6 puck, carbon-graphite material. I'm sure either would be leaps and bounds better than stock, but I also want it to last a good while. Torque ratings are 550 and 675, respectively. With 4.10s, tons, and 35s, it can work up some torque. With a bad tune it put 351 ft/lb to the tires and will have a little more soon.

Both clutches ring in at $429, so I'm fine with either. I'd just like some other opinions. I'll probably call Spec tomorrow and talk to them too.

Then again, if anyone else have some other suggestions feel free to let me know!

I called Spec. Their tech guy was as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

Check out McLeod clutches the one in my brothers. Camaro has been great.

Another vote for Mcleod, Ran Super Street Pro model in the drag truck held up to 2 seasons of racing, prob around 250 passes, and 1000 street miles. Great clutch.

Maybe I'm paranioded but any company there refers to stuff as "Stage 1" or "Stage 2", and so on I'd avoid.

I looked at McLeod, but didn't see where they listed one for my application. I may need to email them to be sure though.

I'm not crazy about them listing their stuff in "stages" either, but it's just differences in disc materials and pressure plate clamping forces.

I would stick with a full face clutch, unless you really plan on abusing it. With puck clutch you will have to change up a little on how you take off to avoid some clutch chatter. Not sure what the pressure plate difference is but might could have them put a heavier pressure plate with that stage 2 clutch disc.

I talked with a pretty knowledgable guy, he suggested a Stage 2 for exactly those reasons. He said they use them in a lot of supercharged Mustangs with good luck. The Stage 2 is rated to 550 ft/lb, so I should be good to go.
