A bunch of us are planning a trip to Coal Creek/Windrock in a couple of months, we've never been. Were looking for info from those that have been before as to where to stay and not to stay, food, fuel, trails to ride ect. Some of our rigs aren't road registered so they have to trailered in unless we can drive to the trails. Thanks

Only been to CC 4-5 times and always stay with friends in Clinton/Norris/Oak Ridge.

Haven't ever stayed there, but the campgrounds all new and pretty nice from what I recall. Several lower end hotels/motels nearby in Oliver Springs or just down the road in Oak Ridge.

Once there, park in HUGE graveled lots and drive your rig anywhere on that property without fear. However, anything you leave in the lot better be locked up!

Without someone to guide you (I don't recall the map or trail marking being that good), you can ride for days and never see the the same trails. OTOH, you can also QUICKLY find the trails you shouldn't be on or are way too tame for your rigs.

There are nice new cabins on the park, and there is some security there for when you are on the trail.
Thin they are 90/night and sleep 4 easily. Heat/Air and a shower, microwave and fridge....kinda spartan but all u need.

It's not a bad place but it's pricey IMO. $20/night just to tent camp. Add in the $17/day to ride per person and it starts getting pricey. I've never thrown down on a cabin before so I can't speak to that but the campground is nice. They have hot showers and decent bathrooms. Also, you'll save yourself some time if you're street legal. The connector from the campground to the trail head is looooooong. If you can hit the street you'll save yourself some time.
