Coil Bucket Substitutes?

My coil spring buckets are shot on my 74 Bronco. I though about just using some 1/2" plate instead. Any ideas on how to attach the coil springs to the plate besides the traditional cups? Any pics? How about U-bolts?

Any pics or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
